A LARGE PAIR OF JAPANESE PATINATED BRONZE TWO HANDLED VASES, POSSIBLY LATE MEIJI PERIOD, LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY, each of stylized lantern form with sides centering shaped rectangular recessed panels of birds amongst flora and fauna in deep relief, flanked by beastly masks suspending leafy vine handles, enclosing a flaring trumpet form neck with deep relief spread winged hawks beneath a fretwork detailed rim, raised on a conforming base with deep relief roaring dragons, elevated on a black painted circular wood plinth. Height: 54" Diameter: 22"
