WILLIARD PRATT (American/Texas b. 1940) A PAINTING, "Fresh Cut," oil on canvas, signed L/L. 30" x 39" NOTE: From Houston, Texas, he worked for 7 years at NASA with a motion picture company that simulated flights. At night he took art classes at the University of Houston and did wildlife and landscape paintings. In the 1970s, he also owned and operated an art supply store, which was so successful he found someone to run it while he devoted himself to wildlife painting and marine scenes. Many of his paintings have been commissioned by hunters who wanted themselves in the work. His paintings are usually large scale, and he devotes about 80 percent of the canvas to the sky, loving the cumulus clouds of the Gulf Coast. He uses endless shades of gray and blue to capture seemingly infinite distances viewed from the early, similar to what he once projected as though observed from space. source: Archives of askART.
- Condition: Two small white colored drips, likely from the artist's hand appear in the sky at left near a duck, otherwise in very good condition.
