A BELLE ÉPOQUE PERIOD LOUIS XV STYLE GILT BRONZE ORMOLU MOUNTED ROSEWOOD MARBLE TOP PARLOR CABINET, PROBABLY FRANCE, LATE 19TH CENTURY, the highly figured serpentine shaped white marble over a wide frieze above two central scrolling ormolu mounted bombé doors with ormolu escutcheons, flanked by two serpentine concave glazed cupboard doors, each opening to fitted shelves lined with blue velvet, all on cabriole legs ending in ormolu mounted scrolled feet, joined by a shaped ormolu trimmed skirt. Condition:
The marble has a yellowish colored stain near the center and has some very mild, expected wear to the polished surface. There are mild expected dents and surface scratches observed intermittently throughout the piece, and some darker toned areas are noted mostly to the front central cupboard doors. A few nails and screws are now lacking on the ormolu mounts, a few breaks and repairs to the ormolu are noted to the front cabinets, and some mild brownish patina is noted on the base mount near the left central stile. The skirt at center has an apparent repair and probably ormolu loss. Some very mild exposure to woodworm is noted, but otherwise in very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
