a rare orange color rope edge molded fiberglass rocking chair with original Zenith full checkerboard label dated from 1950-1954 production by Herman Miller Furniture Company of Zeeland, Michigan, designed by Charles Eames and "The shell is molded by Zenith Plastics Co.," Gardena, California, with wood rockers and metal supports, height: 27", width: 24 3/4", depth: 27"; together with a green molded fiberglass armchair with original Zenith full checkerboard label dated from 1950-1954 production by Herman Miller Furniture Company of Zeeland, Michigan, designed by Charles Eames and "The shell is molded by Zenith Plastics Co.," Gardena, California, height: 24", width: 24 3/4", depth: 29".

  • Provenance: Collection of Leo Scheidler, Missouri City, Texas
  • Notes: The orange rocker is the same edition as one featured on Season 20, Episode 4 of Antiques Road Show.
  • Condition: The surfaces of the chairs are fairly smooth with no cracking, however, there is definite wear and fibers visible, but there are none raised or peeling.
    Orange Rocker: has wear on the wood rockers, especially at the front, back, and underside. The molded fiberglass seat has lighter discoloration areas throughout, darker stained areas on many of the fiberglass strands, a spattering of dark stained spots on the underside of the chair, and a possible repair on the upper portion of the back. The metal base is bent in a few places and has oxidation throughout. There is a weld repair at one of the wire base bends and at each of the wire base attachments near the shock mounts.
    Green armchair: has expected fading and stains, yellowing throughout, oxidation to metal wire base, scuffs with loss at the back rail, and some cracking and damage near the edges and at the back. There is a possible repair at the upper portion of the back and one of the screws connecting the molded seat to the wire base is missing.
