Description:

A COLLECTION OF FRENCH FIGURAL GLASS DESIGNER PERFUME BOTTLES, CIRCA 1979-1990, comprising three "Isadora" flacons, designed by Pierre Dinard (French b. early 20th century), for Isadora Parfums, circa 1979, each with a prominent frosted glass stopper in the form of a female nude, tied around the waist with gold cord, seated atop the clear flat circular bottle, the largest labeled "Isadora/Paris" in black serigraphic text, the molded base marked with a copyright symbol beside "Isadora 1979 Bottle Made In France," height: 4 1/4"; the next in size branded in gold serigraphy, the molded underside designated the same as previous with an additional central "HP 5," retaining original perfume, height: 3 1/4"; the smallest, a miniature plastic replica, marked in black serigraphy, base stamped "251," retaining original perfume, height: 2"; accompanied by three "Heaven Sent" miniature glass flankers, for Helena Rubinstein, Inc., circa 1990, each formed in the representation of a five pointed star centered by facial features fashioned on both the front and back, two of clear glass and topped by white plastic screw caps with circular badge naming the scent and perfumer, one of frosted glass with a metal pendant hook screw cap, two retaining remnants of original perfume, height: 1 1/2". (6) NOTE: It is a common misconception that the "Isadora" flacon, named after the dancer Isadora Duncan (American 1877-1927), was designed by René Lalique (French 1860-1945), but it was not. The 1979 design is an updated and modernized version of the Lalique bottle inspired by Gaby Deslys (French 1881-1920), which bottled a list of various perfumes. Special thanks to Grace E. Hummel.

  • Condition: All of the flacons in good condition, with no apparent major cracks, chips, or repairs. The largest "Isadora" bottle emptied of original perfume, but retains small white flecks, possibly dust, within holding chamber. One side of the frosted "Heaven Sent" star flacon has a central scratch. All marked clearly and correctly. Simpson Galleries strongly encourages in-person inspection of items by the bidder.
