A FOUR PIECE VICTORIAN CAST BRASS FIREPLACE SET, PROBABLY ENGLISH, CIRCA 1880, in the Baroque Revival style and comprising a rectangular stand with twist reeded and scrolling arms joined by a twist reeded handle, above a shallow relief detailed double scrolling arched back plate centering a flaming urn finial, above a ribbon tied drapery swag and a spread winged bat snarling lion mask over a curling strapwork cartouche flanked by blossoming rinceaux, on a conforming molded trim base enclosing scrolling acanthus decoration and raised on paw feet, reversing to back stamped "172," underside incised "5 3/8," height: 21 3/4", width: 10", depth: 10"; fireplace tongs with a serpentine form handle ending in shaped talons, height: 24 1/2", a poker with serpentine form handle ending in "L" shaped steel, height: 24 1/4", an ash shovel with serpentine form handle ending in a shaped flat panned spade, height: 25".
