A GEORGE II CARVED MAHOGANY LIBRARY ARMCHAIR, CIRCA 1727, in the manner of the St. Martin's Lane Syndicate, the shaped crest rail over a rectangular padded and later cream and floral covered back and seat, with outswept partially padded and foliate carved terminals, above shaped and finely accentuated acanthus wrapped supports, the cabriole legs rendered in sculpted fronds and shells above large pad hindfeet and detailed hairy claw and ball forefeet, on later castors. Provenance: Estate of the Late James K. Schooler, Esq. Purchased from Thorpe & Foster, Dorking, Surrey, 20 November 1978, and accompanied by original sales receipt.
