A GEORGE III INLAID SATINWOOD, EBONY, AND MAHOGANY SECRETARY BOOKCASE, ENGLISH, EARLY 19TH CENTURY, the molded crown over a wide string inlaid frieze above two onion dome shaped, astragal glazed cupboard doors, on a surmount with a string inlaid top over a fall front double faux drawer, opening to an interior fitted with an arrangement of eight arched cubby holes, above two long drawers, over eight short drawers, centering a cupboard door opening to an interior cubby hole above a drawer, over an inset gilt tooled maroon leather writing surface, above three string inlaid graduated drawers, raised on ogee bracket feet. Condition:
Some glass panels have been replaced, and two have cracks. There are apparent repairs to various mullions. There are expected scratches, dents and surface wear, as well as some loss of string inlay. One top drawer hinge is not functional, and there are some losses to the desk interior. Overall in fair to good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
