A GRANDE CONTINENTAL BAROQUE INLAID AND CARVED WALNUT ARMOIRE, POSSIBLY NORTHERN ITALY, 17TH CENTURY, with a tapering architectural cornice above a frieze of applied and paired floral clusters alternating block seraphim, over disengaged Solomonic columns surmounted by scrolling Ionic capitals with bug-eyed grotesque masks, flanking large doors centering graduated/radiating thunderbolts enclosed by conforming inlaid parquetry banding and reticulated scrolling engraved brass escutcheons, with right side opening to a three shelf interior lined with later neoclassical style puce toile and continuing on the lock mechanism secured left side, over a conforming base with applied ribbon-tied floral bouquet blocks alternating smaller horizontal versions of door decoration, on a molded plinth and ringed compressed bun feet. - Condition: Good condition for furniture of this age, use and materials, with inactive worming throughout, old repairs, normal surface marks, scratches and dings, edge chips, age cracks, walnut veneer slightly "lifting" in areas, surface buildup in crevices throughout.
