A GROUP OF THREE VINTAGE MIDDLE EASTERN CARVED WOOD CAMEL BELLS, FIRST HALF 20TH CENTURY, comprising a pair carved from tree trunks and having flat tops above flattened flaring bodies with sides pierced for suspension, enclosing two smoothed stick clappers hung from knotted hide straps, the tallest height: 7 1/2", shortest height: 6 3/4"; one of slightly compressed bell form and sides pierced for suspension, enclosing a carved stick clapper hung from the interior with twine rope, height: 6". Provenance: These camel bells were purchased August 3, 1956, from Dahdah Brothers, in Damascus, Syria.
