A MAGNIFICENT GEORGE III SHERATON PERIOD HIGHLY FIGURED CURLY SATINWOOD AND CROSSBANDED ROSEWOOD AND MARQUETRY PEMBROKE TABLE, CIRCA 1795, the rounded rectangular top centering a floral patera within a large oval medallion, between crossbanded scalloped wings, the frieze drawer flanked by additional conformingly decorated paterae, long elegant tapering square supports headed by trailing husks, and ending in original leather castors. NOTE: Thomas Chippendale (English 1718-1779) presented a similar pembroke table to Newby Hall, located in North Yorkshire, England, in 1722 (C. Gilbert, "The Life and Work of Thomas Chippendale," 1978, p. 459, see also fig. 222). A closely related satinwood pembroke table with central marquetry medallion and shaped wings is currently residing in the permanent collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.
