A PAIR OF LARGE EAST GERMAN (GDR) DRESDEN FLORAL ENCRUSTED FIGURAL LAMPS, BY THE PORZELLANMANUFAKTUR PLAUE/THUR., OVERGLAZE MARKS, 1950-1990, each in a Rococo Revival taste, with a reticulated parasol form shade centering oval lithopane panels of various subjects from classical mythology, within shaped basket weave modeled reserves, alternating polychrome painted floral clusters above lozenge form trellis details and a serpentine rocaille rim, surmounted by a brightly enameled blossoming bocage finial, over a tree trunk form candle stem with acanthus leaf banded nozzle, enclosed by provincial maidens and youths in historic attire merrily dancing on stylized groundwork interspersed with large leafy blooms, above an undulating rocaille base rim of flower filled baskets, musical instruments, and foliate pendants, reversing to an underside with overglaze blue crowned "PMP / 1817 / Made in GDR / handpainted," fitted for electricity.
