A PARCEL GILT POLYCHROME CARVED LIME WOOD SANTO FIGURE OF MARY OF GRACE, CIRCA 14TH/15TH CENTURY, PROBABLY GERMAN/AUSTRIAN, the crowned Madonna with flowing golden hair, looks over her rosy cheeks towards the Christ child with curling golden hair, who embraces her breast, and looks toward the dove in her other hand, her robes painted with blue, gold, and red paint, and incised in the gesso are a scrolling foliate motif. Height: 14 3/4" Diameter: 5"

Condition:
There are paint, gilt and gesso losses throughout, exposure to woodworm, most paint has darkened with age, Jesus is now lacking a hand, the dove has a large chip, and there are vrious chips to the carving throughout, and one large loss at the base, otherwise in very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
