A PRE-COLUMBIAN RED AND BLACK SLIP PAINTED CERAMIC FUNERARY TRIPOD RATTLE LEG BOWL, FORMATIVE PERIOD 800 BC - AD 200, PROBABLY CHUPÍCUARO, MEXICO, the painted rolled rim with a hand pinched edge over black and red geometric slip painted sides of a slightly conical wide mouth bowl, on three red slip painted short splayed conical slit feet. Condition:
Some paint loss is noted especially on the rim and to approximately three quarters of the bowl side. A white colored residue is at the base near the legs. Only one rattle is still working. There is a chip observed to the rim and some chips to the base and feet. A possible darkened sticker glue residue area is noted at the base, otherwise in good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
