A SEMI-ANTIQUE CHINESE CARVED WOOD CHEST ON STAND, POSSIBLY HONG KONG, LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY, the elaborately detailed deep relief rectangular case with a hinged lid centering an oval reserve of a fisherman holding aloft his bamboo rod and line above a shaped pond, while his seated companion holds a pipe and rests beneath the branches of a tall ancient pine, on stylized rockwork ground before distant hillside structures, within a border of sinuous four claw reticulated dragons, flanked by sides enclosing dragon mask handles and front/back panels of blossoming prunus branches, height: 5 1/8", width: 20", depth: 12 1/2"; on a conforming carved wood stand with a stepped border above a pierced grapevine and cluster frieze, on square hipped and tapering monopodiae legs ending in claw and ball feet, joined by an "H" form shelf stretcher with "good luck" swastika diapered panel, height: 20", width: 21", depth: 14".
- Condition: Over all good condition, some normal age cracks, surface marks and scratches, chips and buildup in crevices. The lid opens to an interior with a removable three compartment divider.
