A SÉVRES STYLE GILT METAL MOUNTED POLYCHROME PAINTED LUSTER WARE LIDDED VASE, ARTIST "A. LUC," LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY, of ovoid form and enameled in an iridescent lavender ground with sides centering shaped reserves of an elegant young maiden reading her book while seated on a garden bench, signed, "A. Luc," within scrolling foliate borders and flanked by musical trophies above flower filled urns, reversing to a romantic forested landscape beneath a lappet banded collar and shaped "C" scroll cartouches enclosing quatrefoil decoration, surmounted by a similarly detailed domed lid with stylized pinecone bronze finial, raised on a circular socle with a bagpipes trophy and conforming domed foot, trimmed in continuous beading, raised on a rectangular plinth with canted corners and engraved details. Height: 20"
