A TWO PIECE SET OF AMERICAN REPOUSSE STERLING SILVER MOUNTED BLACK LEATHER DESKTOP ACCESSORIES, STAMPED HOWARD & CO., NUMBERED 1754, NEW YORK, N.Y., LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY, each of black leather wrapped rectangular form centering a "C" scroll rocaille cartouche with engraved monogram, enclosed by reticulated blossoming foliate scrolls interspersed with putti, seraphim, birds and trellis panels, stamped lower left, "HOWARD & CO.," opposite lower right stamped, "STERLING 1754," comprising a stationary box with curved hinged lid opening to a dark green silk lined interior, fitted with various open compartments and a pen trough, height: 9", width: 12 3/4", depth: 5 3/4"; together with a matching portfolio opening to a black moire lined interior with left side single pocket, height: 12", width: 9 3/4". Height: 12" Width: 9 3/4" NOTE: Howard & Company (1866-1922), produced fine quality sterling silver items and was located in New York City, N.Y.
- Condition: Good condition, normal areas of tarnish, leather and interior linings are later, the stationary box is possibly on black calf skin and the portfolio on grained black leather.
