AN EARLY VICTORIAN GILT BRASS MOUNTED EBONY VENEERED DISPLAY CASE, HORNE PATENTED HARDWARE, CIRCA 1840, the rectangular hinged lid centering a glazed panel within a leaf tip cast encadrement, above conforming sides enclosing a red velvet lined interior, raised on block feet and shaped base rails. NOTE: Thomas Horne is recorded as having made fine hardware in England during the 19th Century. He took out patents on July 24, 1835 and September 3,1840, numbers 6867 and 8615 respectively.
