AN IMPERIAL STYLE CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN FIGURAL IDOL OF GUANYIN, POSSIBLY MING DYNASTY (1368-1644), BEARING A XUANDE STYLE MARK (1426- 1435), TRADITIONALLY IN THE MANNER OF CALLIGRAPHER SHENDU, the figure's blue hair rests over a peaceful outward gaze and elongated ear lobes, over a necklace adorned chest, she wears a flowing robe with flowering chrysanthemum details throughout, and in one hand holds a bamboo motif water jar, and the other hand gestures in blessing; she stands upon a dragon fish emerging from swirling waves within two lotus flower blooms, with a six character mark at back. Condition:
There are various superficial yellow and darker color residues and some mild expected small chips to the outermost details noted throughout. Some cracks are observed with a white colored fill. There are some apparent repairs, all including various forms of inpainting, observed near the base, at the back of the dress, near the chest and back, at the back of the shawl, as well as repairs to the hair with some chip loss. Some repairs are noted to the fingers and vase of one hand, otherwise in good condition, wear commensurate with age.
