ATTRIBUTED HERÓN MARTÍNEZ MENDOZA (Mexican 1918-1990), A SCULPTURE, "TREE OF LIFE," CIRCA 1960-1970, PROBABLY ACATLAN, terracotta, white slip, and gesso, a bull issuing a reticulated tree form dotted with florets, flower blooms, fruits, seeds, leaves, birds, fish, squirrels, a donkey, roosters, a fox, centering a lamb and crowned by five candle cups centering two scrolls. Height: 33 1/2" Width: 33 1/4" Depth: 12"

Condition:
There are some mild yellow colored stains near the candle cups, some white colored wax residue, intermittent possible pencil marks and blue colored smudges, some scratches that appear prior to firing, mild gesso loss noted mostly to the wire mounts and string, a few strings have been replaced, and one animal figure is not attached but present, but overall in very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
