Notes:
Born in Houston, Texas, Dick Wray took art lessons at the Museum School in his early teens. Following his service in the U.S. Army, Wray studied at the University of Houston's School of Architecture and at the Kunstakademie in Dusseldorf, Germany. The foundation of his career as a painter was established during the time he spent in Europe. Inspired by the art he saw for the first time in Europe, Wray returned to Houston at age 26 knowing for certain that he wanted to be an artist, not an architect.
