Intro
Hello and welcome back to Simpson Galleries. I’m Ashley Simpson. Today I will be talking with you about bidding or buying at auction.
Four Ways to Bid
Often we get asked how to bid at auction. There are four easy ways:
- you can bid online
- over the telephone
- leave an absentee bid or
- bid in person
Online Bidding
For online bidding, you may register with one of three online platforms that host our sales. Liveauctioneers.com, invaluable.com, or bidsquare.com. There you can bid virtually with our audience in real time.
Telephone Bidding
The second option is to register for a telephone bid, where one of our associates will call you ahead of the item or items that you would like to bid on and help you bid live during the sale. This is a great option if you have slow or unreliable internet because the auction goes at a pretty quick pace, so if you want to ensure that your bids get in or that you can up your bid at the last second, then this is a great option for you.
Absentee Bidding
A third way to bid, if you can’t be here in person, is to leave an absentee bid ahead of the sale. This means that the auction house will bid up to but not exceeding the amount of your absentee bid.
In-Person Bidding
Some of our auctions also have the option for in-person bidding. In-person bidding is a great way to experience the auction in its most traditional form. You can interact with other bidders and collectors and enjoy a day of spirited bidding.
