A PAIR OF JAPANESE PARCEL GILT AND IRON RED GROUND KUTANI VASES, SIGNED, LATE MEIJI PERIOD, EARLY 20TH CENTURY, each of shaped baluster form and sides centering maidens and their attendants wearing long elaborate robes preparing for an outdoor tea beneath the branches of a blossoming prunus tree, under a shaped shoulder and short flaring neck of waved details enclosing circular phoenix shields, with interior rim of delicate scrolling floral foliage, on a similarly decorated base rim bordering an underside with two rows of overglaze iron red character marks, raised on conforming carved wood stands, Height: 14 3/8" Diameter: 7 1/4"
